The England cricket camp insist fast bowler Mark Wood is not carrying an injury into the crucial final day of the Ashes against Australia at The Oval
31 July 2023
The most dangerous bowler in the past threeTests, Wood was held back from bowling on Day 4 until Australia were 99 without loss in pursuit of 384.
The speedster then sent down just three overs before leaving the field.
Wood's low workload prompted fears he was carrying an injury, but assistant coach Marcus Trescothick's adamant the decision to hold Wood back until the 33rd over over was simply tactical.
Scattered showers are forecast for the final day...where England must take 10 wickets to level the Ashes 2-2 and deny Australia a series victory.
It's a Dad's Army English attack - Wood, at 33, is the youngest bowler. Jimmy Anderson - at 41 - is the oldest.
