A Rotorua man's been sent to jail for three years and seven months - for owning and exporting child sex abuse videos

Police searched the 37 year old's home in 2021, after video uploads to an overseas online platform were detected.

The man was arrested after the search turned up a phone linked to the social media account.

Examination of an SD card and more phones confirmed he had 143 objectionable videos.

Chief Customs Officer Simon Peterson says such abuse has a devastating and profound effect on victims.
