Mama Hooch rapists Danny and Roberto Jaz have filed an appeal against their convictions and sentence

They've been sentenced to 16 and a half, and 17 years in prison - on convictions for drugging and sexually assaulting patrons and staff at their family bar and restaurant.

Herald reporter Anna Leask says the cut off for was 5pm today, and the notice of appeal was filed at 10am.

She says a court date will be set at the High Court in Christchurch, where their basis for appeal will be heard.
