Black Friday sales are providing a large boost to retailers across the country,

Thousands have been heading along to malls and outlets, for what could be one of the busiest shopping weekends ever.

The Newmarket Business Association says last year's Black Friday trade exceeded Boxing Day by one million dollars.

CEO Mark Knoff-Thomas says after a les than ideal winter, this weekend relieves some pressure.

He says the winter months have been lumpy for the sector, so this is a massive injection of trade and cashflow to get people back up again.
