Encouraging signs since the meningococcal B vaccine was added to the National Immunisation Schedule ... but there's more work still to do

More than 50-thousand doses have been administered to babies under a year old in the six months since the start of March, compared with just over 400 in the six months prior.

In those aged between one and five, figures have jumped from just shy of a thousand, to more than 120-thousand.

But Meningitis Foundation Chair Gerard Rushton is concerned about another high risk group.

He says the adolescents only went from 800 to nine thousand, which shows the criteria for them to get free jabs is far too narrow.
