    A call from gaming industry developers to level the playing field with competitors across the Tasman


    New Zealand video game studios earned 435-million dollars in the year to the end of March 2023.

    Eight applications have also been successfully progressed through the new Game Development Sector Rebate.

    But Game Developers Association Chair Carl Leducq says tax incentives are still needed to compete with Australian salaries.

    He says studios across the Tasman and overseas can poach senior staff, and it's important to have tax incentives to maintain the economy in New Zealand.
