A former Wellington City Councillor is calling for more e-scooter safety measures
5 January 2024
It comes after a blind woman was injured tripping over a parked e-scooter and she wants council to reconsider it's micro-mobility programme.
Former Councillor Simon Woolf says he was part of the e-scooters initial implementation, but their provisos have been ignored.
He says of the 15 safety amendments they put in, very few of them have been adhered to, let alone enforced.
Woolf says there needs to be pick up and drop off points, and e-scooter stands, to make sure they're out of the way.
