    A 52-year-old man's appeared in court, accused of making "concerning comments" yesterday - leading armed police to swarm Auckland's Albert Park - with evacuations of buildings in the central city


    Orewa man Sean Clifford Nicholas has been charged with making a false statement.

    Court documents state police allege his false statement to a woman gave rise to serious apprehension for his own safety - and was reckless as to whether it would cause a wasteful police deployment.

    The charge carries a maximum three months in prison, or a two-thousand dollar fine.

    Nicholas is also charged with breaching prison release conditions.
