    Fire crews remain at the scene of a vegetation fire near Canterbury's Hurunui River


    FENZ confirms staff are continuing to mop up this afternoon, with two diggers at the site.

    A helicopter is also on standby.

    Two crews monitored the site overnight.

    The blaze began yesterday afternoon, on the side of State Highway One.

    The cause of the fire is under investigation.
