A senior Black Power member says a shotgun attack on a vehicle after a Hastings rugby game - isn't the first in Hawke's Bay

A senior Black Power member says a shotgun attack on a vehicle after a Hastings rugby game - isn't the first in Hawke's Bay

The visiting team's van was chased and shot at multiple times as it fled on Saturday afternoon.

Denis O'Reilly told Hawkes Bay Today he witnessed a similar attack last year - as a van full of players headed to Raupunga for a league match.

He says leadership is the only way to manage such violence - and in that previous incident, no one was held accountable.

Police say the weekend's attack is unacceptable and they are looking at CCTV to get to the bottom of it.
