A skipper charged over the Enchanter tragedy - starts his three-week trial today

A skipper charged over the Enchanter tragedy - starts his three-week trial today

Five Waikato friends died when a rogue wave rolled the charter fishing boat near North Cape in 2022.

Two charges have been withdrawn against the company, due to a lack of evidence.

Skipper Lance Goodfellow faces one charge of breaching his duties as a worker under the Health and Safety Act.

Open Justice Reporter Shannon Pitman says there are particulars around that charge.

She says that includes his decision to leave Three Kings Island, with poor visibility heading into waves.
