    Former world tennis number one Simona Halep has been handed a wildcard entry into the ASB Classic starting later this month


    Halep, who won the French Open in 2018 and Wimbledon the following year - will make her third visit to Auckland and first since 2013 as she continues her return to the court after successfully appealing a four-year doping ban.

    Also claiming ASB Classic wildcards are 2024 Australian Open and Wimbledon junior champion Renata Jamrichova in the women's and rising young Canadian male Gabriel Diallo .
