The Education Minister wants overseas primary teachers to come work in New Zealand - and stay

The Education Minister wants overseas primary teachers to come work in New Zealand - and stay

Erica Stanford, who is also the Immigration Minister, this morning announced on Newstalk ZB she's changing immigration rules to fast-track residency for primary teachers.

From late next month, those working overseas will only need a job offer, but won't be required to have worked for two years., to apply for residency here.

Stanford says it will make a difference, but there's still more to do in terms of onsite training, scholarships, and encouraging young people to pursue teaching.
