    Confidence tourism is on the way back to being New Zealand's number one export earner


    Latest figures from Stats NZ show total industry expenditure crossed 44-billion dollars -- a near 15-percent rise on the year prior.

    Direct GDP contribution hit 17 billion-dollars, up 16-percent from 2023.

    Tourism Industry Aotearoa Chief Executive Rebecca Ingram says the figures are big, and reiterates the important role of tourism has in the economy.
