A baby shaking case in Wellington has added to New Zealand's grim track record

A baby shaking case in Wellington has added to New Zealand's grim track record

William Wakefield has been sentenced at the High Court to prison with a minimum non parole period of 14 years and nine months.

He admitted killing five month old Lincoln, but denied it was on purpose.

A jury disagreed and found him guilty of murder.

Justice Robert Dobson handed down the sentence at the High Court in Wellington.

He says baby killings by men who are not the biological fathers of their partners' children is a blight on this country.
