Taye Diggs joked he was the "only person" who had to dress up for the Critics' Choice Awards on Sunday (07.03.21)
The 'Murder in the First' star hosted the ceremony from the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California, but with the nominees and winners tuning in from home, the 50-year-old star joked a new trend for "award show casual" was on the rise

Taye - who wore tuxedos by Giorgio Armani and Louis Vuitton for the event - joked: "I’m probably the only person on the show not wearing sweatpants - I called award show casual: formal on top, comfy on the bottom."
During his opening monologue, Taye stayed away from political issues and simply explained how this year's ceremony differed from previous years.
He said: 'This year's show is obviously a little different, social distancing means that most of our presenters and nominees will be watching the show from afar and since most of them are in their living room."
He also showed off the virtual tables of artists, which were organised by project.
The 'All American' star likely envied the more casually-attired winners as he has admitted he favours "comfort" in his clothes.
He said: "I grew up really in awe of Ralph Lauren and prep and everything that stood for. Now that I'm much, much older, I like comfort. My son is into sports, so we go sneaker shopping together constantly."
He was styled for the evening by Sarah Edmiston and Zadrian Smith, who wanted him to look like a "quintessential leading man" while staying true to his preferred choices.
Zadrian told The Hollywood Reporter: "We try honour the identity of who the client is. We saw that Taye loves a hat and he's a quite classic guy and we just wanted to elevate that.
“The first look is the quintessential, leading man, Giorgio Armani moment, and we're so grateful to the entire Giorgio Armani team. We wanted to honour the classic Taye but also we wanted to kind of lift it."
Sarah added: “All the wonderful energy and the grace that [Taye] brings to everything that he does is why we were so excited, because that is the dream person to dress.
"To give our clients the chance to wear the clothes that reflect their values and reflect what's important to them and tell the story of where they are in their life right now, that’s everything.”
