A potential Bring Back Buck moment for New Zealand Cricket

A potential Bring Back Buck moment for New Zealand Cricket

Spinner Ajaz Patel has missed selection in the squad to face Bangladesh, 19 days after becoming the third player to take 10 wickets in a test innings in Mumbai.

The selectors have opted instead for a seam-dominant attack, with all-rounder Rachin Ravindra to provide the spinning option.

Coach Gary Stead gives a reason.

Colin de Grandhomme has also missed out with Daryl Mitchell preferred in the 13-man squad.

Devon Conway returns from the broken hand which kept him out of the Indian series, while Tom Latham leads the side in the absence of Kane Williamson.

The first test starts in Mount Maunganui on January 1.

11 of the 64 wickets in the ground's two tests have come via spin.
