    There's concerns for a person's safety after a kayak was found overturned near an Auckland island


    The green and white kayak with fishing rods and bait in it was spotted near Motuihe Island in the Hauraki Gulf early this morning.

    A blue hat was also located nearby in the water.

    A police spokesperson says they've been conducting searches since the kayak was found.

    They're urging anyone who owns the kayak or knows the owner to get in touch with police.
