    Police are working to improve the culture of a custody unit ... after a custody officer was convicted on two assault charges


    The Independent Police Conduct Authority's found the Auckland District Court custody officer repeatedly displayed unwanted and sexually inappropriate behaviour towards a colleague in 2018 - as well as towards to others.

    The authority was concerned about the custody unit's wider culture after finding out colleagues knew of the behaviour.

    Authority Chair Judge Colin Doherty says he's satisfied police have been working to improve the culture - and will continue doing so.
