    MetService has detected a line of severe thunderstorms...currently crossing Northland


    The storms have been moving east-southeast from PURUA to MAUNGATUROTO, and are due to reach MAUNGATAPERE to BRYNDERWYN to GLORIT shortly.

    They'll reach from KAMO to MANGAWHAI to MAKARAU in about half an hour.

    The thunderstorms are expected to be accompanied by very heavy rain.

    A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in force for NORTHLAND, AUCKLAND, GREAT BARRIER ISLAND and COROMANDEL PENINSULA.

    People are being urged to take shelter indoors, avoid sheltering under trees, and get back to land if they're outdoors on the water.
