The board of Auckland's Dilworth School is welcoming the independent inquiry into abuse there

The inquiry will be led by Chair Dame Silvia Cartwright and Co-Inquirer Frances Joychild QC.

From today, survivors past and present, their families, and anyone with information relevant to the inquiry can submit evidence.

Dilworth says it will co-operate fully with the inquiry and is encouraging former staff, board members, old boys and the wider Dilworth community to participate.

The inquiry is set to finish before the end of the year, but it could be extended if necessary
