    On board was the coveted Ranfurly Shield, after the Lions ended the Magpies' impressive reign, beating Hawke's Bay 19-12 last night.

    Tamati Ellison lifted the Old Log as a player, the last time Wellington won it... back in 2009.

    Now an assistant coach with the Lions, he's revealed the squad linked up with former teammate Piri Weepu, out on the town.



    Wellington face a tough first Shield defence against NPC champions Waikato on Saturday.
