Work is underway to rebuild a 148-year-old jetty at Lyttelton's Governors Bay

Work is underway to rebuild a 148-year-old jetty at Lyttelton's Governors Bay

The project follows a seven-year battle, led by residents, to prevent the historic structure from deteriorating further after it was damaged in the earthquakes.

Residents rallied together in 2015 to take on the task of repairing it by forming the Governors Bay Jetty Restoration Trust.

Chairperson of the Governors Bay Jetty Restoration Trust, Prue Miller says the restoration is a long time coming.
