It's been a busy weekend for emergency services around the country

Four people have died and serious injuries are being reported, after five separate crashes in Gisborne, Taupo, on the Remutaka Hill and in eastern Bay of Plenty.

Two people presented themselves at Auckland City Hospital overnight with serious injuries -- one with gunshot wounds -- after separate incidents.

Minor injuries are being reported, after a light plane crash at Canterbury's Rangiora Airport late this morning.

Six people have been arrested after a police chase between Hamilton East and Pokeno, which began about 11 this morning.

One person has arrested and another was taken to hospital, after armed police targeted a home on Somme Parade in Whanganui early this afternoon.

Work will also continue into the night, to contain a vegetation fire on Mount Creighton near Queenstown.
