Slain Sandringham shopkeeper, Janak Patel has been fondly remembered as a true family man.

Slain Sandringham shopkeeper, Janak Patel has been fondly remembered as a true family man.

His funeral was held yesterday in Auckland after his fatal stabbing on Wednesday night.

The 34-year-old's wife, parents, sisters and other family were among the mourners, as was Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern.

Herald Reporter Akula Sharma was at the service, and says it was hugely emotional.

She says there were hundreds of supporters there from both the Indian community, and wider public.

And a third arrest was made shortly before the service.

The 36-year-old appears in court today charged with robbery -- along with a 42-year-old facing the same charge.

A 34-year-old, charged with murder and aggravated robbery, will re-appear in the High Court on December 14.
