A forestry company's been ordered to pay 355-thousand-dollars -- relating to a Gisborne storm four years ago

Ernslaw One Limited admitted fault and was sentenced today -- concluding one of Gisborne District Court's largest series of investigations under the RMA.

It's one of five companies sentenced in Tairawhiti after rain in June 2018 dislodged sediment and log waste from poorly managed sites.

An estimated 400-thousand-cubic-metres of debris washed down hills and clogged rivers -- causing serious environmental harm and property damage.
