Wet, unstable weather and heavy downpours in many parts of the country have prompted warnings from forecasters

Wet, unstable weather and heavy downpours in many parts of the country have prompted warnings from forecasters

MetService says heavy rain is likely for Hawkes Bay, Buller, Nelson and southwest Marlborough.

A very humid and unstable airmass lying over the country, will bring rain and possible thunderstorms to many areas too.

The most rainfall is expected about the ranges of Hawkes Bay, and inland parts of Buller, Nelson and southwest Marlborough where Heavy Rain Watches are now in force.

People are advised to keep up to date with the latest forecasts.
