Environment Canterbury is facing claims relating to spraying activities - including staff wearing inadequate PPE and unsafe storage of chemicals.
A spokesperson says safety is a priority and issued a region-wide stop work notice in March while an internal review was undertaken.
Reporter Nathan Morton says the Herald has obtained correspondence between ECan and WorkSafe.
He says it appears ECan staff has been approaching its chemical spraying in concerning ways but these are allegations, and a WorkSafe investigation hasn't been opened yet.
