The Ministry of Education has acknowledged the bravery of young people who flagged a former teacher's inappropriate relationship with a 16-year-old student

The Ministry of Education has acknowledged the bravery of young people who flagged a former teacher's inappropriate relationship with a 16-year-old student

The teacher, legally known as Taurapa, formerly Connor Taurapa Matthews, groomed a student at Rangi Ruru Girls' School in 2018, and entered into a relationship.

    He's been struck off.

The Teachers Disciplinary Tribunal has judged it misconduct of the most serious form.

Ministry of Education Te Tai Runga leader, Nancy Bell, says teachers are trusted leaders and role models, and such misconduct is completely unacceptable.
