    Three youths have been arrested for allegedly unlawfully taking a vehicle, driving dangerously and fleeing police in Southland


    On Wednesday, police responded to reports of youths driving a potentially stolen vehicle driving in an erratic manner across Invercargill.

    The driver fled police and crashed shortly after -- with the occupants decamping on foot.

    A dog team was brought in and tracked the youths -- three 13-year-olds were spoken to regarding six unlawful takings of motor vehicles.

    One appeared in the Invercargill Youth Court, and two others were referred to Youth Services.

    A fourth has yet to be spoken too.
