Emily Blunt dressed like a "teenage boy" before she was cast in 'The Devil Wears Prada'

The 40-year-old actress starred alongside Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway in the 2006 comedy-drama movie, and Emily admits that it proved to be a turning point for her sense of style

The London-born star told Variety: "I didn't know enough in any way about the fashion industry going into that movie."

Emily "learned a lot" through starring in the film.

She shared: "I think I'd just been dressing like a teenage boy until that happened, and I learned a lot."

Emily actually learned about all aspects of the fashion industry through appearing in the movie.

She said: "[I learned] in every way. Not just about the industry itself but about style and the art of it and how important it is."

The actress played Emily Charlton, an assistant to an intimidating editor of a fashion magazine, in the hit movie, and Emily previously admitted that she would relish the chance to reprise her role.

During an appearance on 'The View', Emily joked: "The green eye shadow is so horrifying, it has to get another outing. So bad.

"And the fashion - we loved it. I would do [a sequel] in a heartbeat just to play with those guys again. It's so fun."

On the other hand, Anne doubts that a sequel will ever be made.

The award-winning actress described 'The Devil Wears Prada' as belonging to a "different era".

She said: "I don't know if there can be [a sequel movie].

"I just think that movie was in a different era, you know? Now, everything's gone so digital, and that movie centred around the concept of producing a physical thing. It's just very different now."
