Isabela Merced has a "very unhealthy obsession" with video games

The 22-year-old actress admits she can easily stay up until 4am playing and even managed 25 hours of gameplay in one weekend when she was preparing for her role in the second season of game adaptation 'The Last Of Us'

She told The Hollywood Reporter: "'The Last of Us' prep has not been done in my house. I was in a relationship where my ex had a console, and I would play video games until 4am every night.

"So I have a very unhealthy obsession with video games, and I told myself I wouldn't get a PS5.

"But when I heard this ominous call about how the [The Last of Us] creators wanted to meet with me, I was like': Okay, I have to play the game first'.

Isabela went on to explain she went over to a friend's house and spent the whole weekend playing the second game on which the TV show is based.

She added: "I had already watched the show, and so I went to my friend's house and I played it all in one weekend on the PS5. It was amazing. It did 25 hours of gameplay. It was wild, but so much fun. So I really liked the second game, but I haven't played the first game yet. Only the second."

She added of her role in the sci-fi series: "I think this is going to be a really wonderful experience. They won all those Emmys for a reason, and it's a really well-run, well-oiled machine."

Isabela has become one of the most in-demand young actresses in Hollywood in recent months after landing roles in 'The Last Of Us', sci-fi movie 'Alien: Romulus' and superhero films 'Madame Web' and 'Superman: Legacy'. She was previously known as Isabela Moner but she changed her surname to honour her late grandmother.

Isabela previously revealed she made the change because she wants to live her life in the same way that her fearless lost loved one did.

Opening up about the name change during an interview with Refinery29, Isabela explained: "This is when I begin writing my own story as Isabela Merced. This has been a very difficult year for my brothers, mom, and me.

"This is how I say goodbye to that and welcome a new chapter with those who are close to me. Isabela Merced represents everything that has and will continue to define me. It represents the values that were passed on from my grandmother."
