Replanting native bush on Christchurch's Port Hills will be a future focus

Replanting native bush on Christchurch's Port Hills will be a future focus

The city's State of Emergency lifted this afternoon, with reduced fire crews cleaning up remaining hot spots.

Residents have been critical about pine trees planted after the 2017 wildfire.

But Selwyn District Council's emergency management head, Al Lawn, says groups were planting native bush before the last fire.

He says they'll continue to work with them to increase native plantings on the Port Hills - and replace those destroyed.
