New Zealand's seen a tenfold increase in the amount of ADHD medication being dispensed to adults

A study published in today's Medical Journal, identifies a rise between 2006 and 2022.
However it found treatment rates are still below the conditions predicted prevalence levels.
Lead author Dr Ben Beaglehole says we haven't been able to meet the demand of those seeking treatment.
He says it's difficult to get an ADHD assessment given the strained mental health workforce, the cost, and the fact treatment has to be approved by a psychiatrist.
