King Charles has celebrated the first anniversary of his coronation with a social media video

The 75-year-old monarch - who is undergoing treatment for an undisclosed form of cancer - was crowned alongside his wife Queen Camilla, 76, at Westminster Abbey, London, on 6 May, 2023, following the death of his mum Queen Elizabeth aged 96 the previous year

A post from the royal family on its Instagram is now showing a montage of Charles' coronation, with the footage opening with film of the king greeting well-wishers on The Mall outside Buckingham Palace on the eve of the coronation.

The family captioned the 90-second clip: "Today marks the first anniversary of The King and Queen's Coronation in @wabbey.

"As well as the service itself, the Coronation Weekend saw a carriage procession through central London, a fly-past, a Royal Salute by 4,000 troops in the gardens of Buckingham Palace, a Coronation Concert at Windsor Castle and a UK-wide volunteering initiative."

Appealing for royal fans to share their memories of the big day, the post was signed off with the question: "What's your favourite memory of the weekend?"

Audio at the start of the clip was from a pre-recorded message Charles released at the time for train and tube stations across Britain.

He's heard saying: "My wife and I wish you and your families a wonderful coronation weekend."

The video also showed Charles and Camilla travelling to the ceremony from Buckingham Palace in the Diamond Jubilee State Coach.

It featured footage from inside Westminster Abbey, including the king's crowning by the Archbishop of Canterbury with the St Edward's Crown.

Charles has returned to royal duties after his cancer diagnosis was revealed in February - with insiders telling The Sun he has told aides to "supercharge" his diary.

He resumed the duties with a visit to a cancer centre in London on 30 April, while Catherine, Princess of Wales, 42, is still out of the public eye as receives preventative treatment for the disease.
