Billy Ray Cyrus is "incredibly proud" of his daughter Miley

The 62-year-old country music singer helped launch the career of Grammy Award-winning superstar Miley, 31, when they starred together in the late 2000s Disney Channel series 'Hannah Montana' and although they are not currently thought to be on speaking terms, he took to social media on Friday (07.06.24) to hail her as a "true artist" and a "survivor"

Alongside an old picture of himself and his daughter from Miley's early childhood, he wrote on Instagram: "One of my best memories ever: @cma Fest, back when it was Fan Fair. That's @mileycyrus and me, surrounded by thousands of incredible fans at the fairgrounds. ~

"The next day, someone handed me this picture, and I wrote that poem right then on the bus. I'm incredibly proud of her. She's a survivor and a true artist.

"She learned early on to love and appreciate the fans who make everything possible.

"We both cherish the connection we have with our fans and are grateful for every single one of you! Hope you all have a great Friday! Now rock the country!!!"

From the image of the handwritten note, the lyrics to the poem are not entirely clear but it is titled 'The Moment' but amongst them he notes that the "picture is way too happy to make [him] feel sad".

In 2007, he wrote and released the track ' Ready, Set, Don't Go' as the lead single from his 2007 album ' Home at Last' and the track that focused on his feelings towards Miley's sudden rise to fame featured in Season Two episode of his daughter's hit TV show.

The 'Achy Breaky Heart' hitmaker has become somewhat estranged from Miley in recent years after he divorced her mother Tish Cyrus and married singer Firerose, 34, but insiders recently claimed that he has tried contacting her several times and "congratulated" after she won her first Grammy for megahit single 'Flowers' earlier this year.

A source told Us Weekly: "He's tried reaching out to Miley many times and congratulated her on her Grammys. The kids have chosen sides, but friends are hoping the rift doesn't last forever."

The insider also claimed that Miley - who attended her mom Tish's wedding to Dominic Purcell in August along with her older siblings Trace and Brandi, whilst her younger brother and sister Braison and Noah did not - has chosen to "stand by" her mother but is "on the outs" with her dad.

The source said: "Miley and Billy Ray are on the outs. Miley's very close with her mom and is standing by her. Noah has always been close with Billy Ray,. It's caused a rift between her and Miley."
