Auckland Mayor Wayne Brown has no intention of consulting the public on changes to Council Controlled Organisations

Auckland Mayor Wayne Brown has no intention of consulting the public on changes to Council Controlled Organisations

Brown's released his draft budget for next year.

He wants to scrap the council's property development arm Eke Panuku and greatly reduce the function of Tataki Auckland Unlimited.

Brown argues he campaigned on such a move when running for mayor.

The Government will need to approve any major changes to Auckland Transport, but Brown wants the council to take over back office functions in the mean time.

Brown says consultation isn't necessary because there's no reduction in services, just a change to how the council is organised.
