The Justice Minister says he's working at pace to change name suppression laws

The Justice Minister says he's working at pace to change name suppression laws

It would mean adult sex offenders couldn't be granted permanent name suppression by the courts, unless the victim agrees.

Paul Goldsmith says the current laws led to some offenders having their name suppressed forever, despite victims disagreeing.

He says he's confident this will move through swiftly.

Goldsmith says it's an amendment to an existing bill going through Parliament.
