Daniel Craig's family found his 'James Bond' fame "emotionally difficult"

The 56-year-old actor - who has 32-year-old Ella with first wife Fiona Loudon and six-year-old Grace with spouse Rachel Weisz -"loved every second" of his tenure as the suave spy, but admitted the constant scrutiny was difficult, not just for him but for his loved ones too

Speaking at the BFI in London, Daniel said when asked if he had enjoyed playing James Bond: "I did. I loved every second of it. I mean, some of it was tough and weird and strange and emotionally kind of difficult for everybody, including my family. The fame is weird."

The 'Queer' actor always knew accepting the role of 007 in 2006's 'Casino Royale' would change his life but his hesitation about growing fame "couldn't be the reason not to" take on the challenge.

He added: "I was working and had a little bit of fame, and it bought me, you know, a drink at the bar. But I could still go anywhere."

The conversation saw Daniel look back on his lengthy career and he reflected on his "terrifying" experience being directed by Steven Spielberg in 2005's 'Munich', a true story of the Mossad assassinations following the 1972 massacre during the 1972 Olympic Games.

He said: "I think, rather brilliantly, he doesn't give you an awful lot. He arrives the day before shooting and he leaves the night of. It's something from 'Jaws,' I think it's some tradition he had. So you don't see him."

Recounting the first scene filmed for 'Munich', a complicated tracking shot in a car, he added: "[The camera] came along the street, along the bonnet of the car, came to me and then around the back of the car and then kind of travelled away. And that was his first shot.

"It was like, 'I've arrived, OK?' And you're just like, 'Oh my God!' But what are you going to do? S*** or get off the pot. I mean, you've just gotta do it."

Earlier this week, Daniel was nominated for the Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Motion Picture, Drama Golden Globe award, much to his delight.

He said: "I try and be cool about it but I can't, it's amazing."
