Shakira has been hospitalised with an "abdominal issue"

The 48-year-old musician, who is currently on her 'Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran' world tour, informed fans of her condition in a statement posted on X on Sunday (16.02.25), as she has been forced to postpone her scheduled performance in Peru due to her emergency treatment

She said: "I am sorry to inform you all that last night I had to go to the ER for an abdominal issue and am currently hospitalised.

"The doctors whose care I am currently under have communicated that I am not in good enough condition to perform this evening."

Shakira had been due to perform in Lima on Monday as part of the South American leg of her tour, which began on 11 February at Estádio Olímpico Nilton Santos in Rio de Janeiro.

She is set to play five shows in Colombia, including three in her hometown of Barranquilla, from 20 to 27 February, before closing out the continent's dates on 8 March.

The singer added she was "very sad" about the postponement, explaining she had been looking forward to reuniting with her fans in Peru.

But she said she remained hopeful she would be discharged in time for her next scheduled performance, saying online: "I hope to be released and well tomorrow so that I am able to perform."

Shakira also confirmed her team and promoters were working to reschedule the Peru concert, adding: "Thank you all for your understanding, I love you all, Shak."

The Grammy-winning artist has faced recent scrutiny over her tour's stage design, with some fans on social media accusing her of copying elements from Beyoncé's 'Renaissance' tour.

In one widely shared post, a user compared Shakira's decision to display her name in large silver letters to a similar visual used in Beyoncé's tour branding.

Another pointed to the Colombian singer's onstage metallic wolf, drawing parallels to Beyoncé's now-iconic silver horse, which featured prominently during her performances.

Shakira and Beyoncé have previously collaborated, releasing the 2006 single 'Beautiful Liar'.

Following her opening show in Brazil on her tour, Shakira took to Instagram to share her excitement, declaring: "Rio! I couldn't have asked for a better crowd to kick off the tour! Thank you for all your love, warmth, and energy on an unforgettable night! São Paulo, are you ready?"

Shakira's 'Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran' tour is set to continue in Mexico from 12 March.
