Pete Davidson says being a father is his "dream"

The 31-year-old comedian's girlfriend Elsie Hewitt, 29, is pregnant with the couple's first child, and the former Saturday Night Live star has been getting some advice from fellow SNL alumni Adam Sandler and Colin Jost

He told E! News: "Everybody's just been super excited for me, because they know it's been my dream.

"They all just have been like, 'You're going to be great at this. It's the best thing you'll ever do in your life.' Sandler gave me some great advice.

"It's been really nice that everyone's super excited. When you do something, when we do anything, you want everyone to be excited, especially having a child."

Pete - who feels "very lucky and very, very happy" to be approaching fatherhood - is excited to provide for his baby.

He added: "[I'm looking forward to] being able to take care of something and show it the childhood I didn't have.

"I assume you just try to give them what you didn't have, and what you didn't like, not do it."

Elsie revealed her pregnancy on Instagram last week, showing a sonogram of their baby alongside a video of her and Pete holding hands as they watched an ultrasound.

In the caption, she quipped: "Welp, now everyone knows we had sex."

Meanwhile, friends of Pete have insisted that now is the "perfect" time for him to become a father.

A source told Us Weekly: "This has brought them even closer. It's a healthy relationship for Pete.

"Pete has always wanted to be a dad and thinks the timing in his life is perfect. He couldn't have done it a few years ago but is in a very different place in life now.

"He's had a great year so far with two movies coming out soon, another in production, and a return to stand-up."

While Pete and Elsie only went public with their romance in March, insiders insisted they are smitten with each other.

The source said: "They are over the moon about it. They are so excited. Pete and Elsie have a really playful relationship, and things are going really well."
