Nicole Kidman has admitted she uses fashion an "armour"

The 58-year-old actress - who recently reunited with Chanel after filing for divorce from Keith Urban after 19 years of marriage - has opened up about her relationship with style

Asked what fashion means to her, she told Vogue magazine: "Sometimes it's armour.

"Sometimes it's playful, sometimes it's sexy. It just depends on my mood. Sometimes it's androgynous, sometimes it's kind of, screw you."

The Moulin Rouge star also described fashion a "parallel artistic life", particularly when it comes to red carpet outfits or photoshoots.

When it comes to her makeup, Nicole previously revealed she learned to do her own by watching professionals on film sets.

She told WWD: "When you're working with someone like [director] Baz Luhrmann and [costume designer] Catherine Martin, there's a very specific look they want for the character.

"I started to realize, as I was being created by others and experimenting, they were teaching me how to use makeup in particular ways and create characters. I could then go and use that in real life."

She added: "When I started experimenting with make-up and skin care myself, I went through so many different stages: lots of masks, this and that. I learned I can change aspects of my face, augment things, and it became much more creative and exciting."

Meanwhile, the Hollywood star admitted she was "nervous" before her Paris Fashion Week appearance at this week's Chanel Womenswear Spring/Summer 2026 show.

In a behind the scenes video for Vogue magazine, she said: "I'm just very nervous, actually.

"I have my daughters coming with me. But I'm very excited for Matthieu [Blazy] because this is a big moment for him."

Nicole made her first public appearance since filing for divorce her children's father Keith Urban.

However, she was glad to be there to support her friend Mattieu, who is the fashion house's new creative director.

She added: "To be able to celebrate him with his first show with Chanel, and the beginning of an incredible journey together, it's exciting, right?"
