Victoria Beckham thinks she sometimes dressed and looked "inappropriate" in the Spice Girls

The 43-year-old fashion designer admits she made some questionable sartorial choices in her teenage years but she wasn't allowed to wear anything too sexy or revealing.

However, when she became Posh Spice - one fifth of the globe conquering girl group along with Mel B, Geri Horner, Mel C and Emma Bunton - her outfits got more and more revealing on stage and for their videos.

Speaking in the new issue of Vogue magazine, she said: "Did I have a perm that was slightly distasteful? Yes. Did I wear strange jeans?

    Yes.

"Did I look inappropriate ever? Not until the Spice Girls. My mum would never let me go out dressed like that."

Victoria used to use empty Chanel bottles that she thought were "glamorous and luxurious" to decorate her teenage bedroom because she wasn't allowed to put posters up, a rule she passed on to her and husband David's own children, Brooklyn, 18, Romeo, 15, Cruz, 12, and six-year-old Harper.

She said: "My dad worked really hard to have the money for us to have a nice house, so Mum would not let us put posters up and I wouldn't let my kids stick posters up. If they must have a football (soccer) shirt, then we will get it framed and put in on the wall nicely."

And the 'Stop' singer has tried to inspire and encourage her children in the same way her parents used to motivate her.

She said: "My family brought me up telling me I could achieve absolutely anything. Whenever I said I can't do it, my dad, he just wouldn't hear it. He'd say, 'What do you mean you can't do it? Why?

Why?' And I do that to my own children as well."
