Andy Cohen has defended Sarah Jessica Parker amid her ongoing war of words with former co-star Kim Cattrall

The 52-year-old actress has come under fire from her former 'Sex and the City' co-star Kim after the star accused Sarah Jessica of “exploiting our tragedy” after she sent her condolences to Kim following the death of her brother Christopher earlier this month

And now, talk show host Andy Cohen has leapt to the defence of the ‘Divorce’ star, claiming she has only ever said “the nicest things” about her 61-year-old co-star, and only mentioned the death of Christopher when she was asked about it during recent press tours.

He said: “I thought it was fake. I was like, ‘There’s no way Kim Cattrall has posted this on her Instagram.’ This is a woman who is in the middle of grieving the loss of her brother, which is tragic and sad. She accused [Sarah Jessica Parker] of exploiting a tragedy and I’ve been getting all these tweets from people.

“She was doing press all last week for ‘Divorce’. And you know, guess what? When you’re doing press, you’re asked the same questions about what’s going on. So people, I’m sure, were like, ‘What do you think of what happened?’ And she simply and concisely expressed her condolences. I would not call that exploiting a tragedy. What was she supposed to do? Say something bad? I don’t understand.

“Sarah only said the nicest things about her. And then the same thing with the movie. The only thing she’s ever commented about the movie or about Kim not wanting to do the movie was that she was disappointed that the studio pulled the plug on it.”

The 49-year-old presenter also slammed the idea of a “catfight” between the two actresses, as he insisted Sarah Jessica isn’t fighting back.

Speaking on his radio show ‘Radio Andy’, he added: “[I don’t] like it that people are characterising this as a catfight. There’s only one person fighting here. I don’t get it. It’s a catfight of one from where I see it.”

Kim’s harsh words came after Sarah Jessica left a comment under the Instagram post which confirmed Christopher’s death, in which she offered her condolences to her former co-star.

The ‘Police Academy’ actress took to Instagram again a few days later to slam Sarah Jessica, as she wrote: "My Mom asked me today 'When will that @sarahjessicaparker, that hypocrite, leave you alone?' Your continuous reaching out is a painful reminder of how cruel you really were then and now.

"Let me make this VERY clear. (If I haven't already) You are not my family. You are not my friend. So I'm writing to tell you one last time to stop exploiting our tragedy in order to restore your 'nice girl' persona. (sic)"
