Helicopters airlift several people to Waikato Hospital after shuttle bus rolls near Mt Ruapehu's Turoa Ski field

There were 31 people on the bus when it rolled. half way along the Ohakune Mountain Road heading downhill just after 2.30 this afternoon.

A St Johns spokesperson says most of those on board have minor injuries and have been taken to a triage base in Ohakune.

Around a thousand people have spent the afternoon stranded on the mountain because of the blocked road, but the road is now open again.
