Aimee Wedgwood was confronted by the protective herd - at south
Auckland's Totara Park.
Cliff McMahon - a Manurewa RSA president and Vietnam veteran - was
nearby and tried to intervene - but he was trampled and had to be hospitalised.
Wedgwood says the animals are allowed to roam near the park's recreational
trails.
She always makes sure to give them space when she's out running... but this
is the first time they've been aggressive.
