Gabrial Weston appeared for sentencing at New Plymouth District Court on one count of breeching suppression.
On June 14th, shortly after Weston's father Dennis Weston, was found guilty of rape, Gabrial Weston posted the name and photo of the victim on Facebook - for two days.
In New Zealand, victims of sex crimes have automatic name suppression.
The defence argued for a discharge without conviction, as it may prevent Weston from getting a career in teaching after her studies.
Judge Timothy Black told the court a conviction would certainly not bar Weston from registering as a teacher.
Dennis Weston was sentenced to nine-and-a-half years for rape, last week.
