A Manawatu share milker has written a children's book to shine some positive light on farmers

The book called Midnight Mooovers, based on a free range robotic dairy farm, is about two cows sneaking out of their paddock at night.

Author Amy Gemmell says it's a story that has a different slant about farming - to show many of them care about a healthy environment.

She says there can be a negative slant on dairy farming in particular but good farmers are by far in the majority.

Gemmell says some profit from sales will be donated to rural schools.
