There's no evidence Nicholas Evans was assaulted while imprisoned at Mt Eden Correctional Facility

There's no evidence Nicholas Evans was assaulted while imprisoned at Mt Eden Correctional Facility

Clint Bambrick, who was investigating Evans' death for Serco, says although
accounts from Evans' cellmate suggest he had injuries - staff weren't told.

The 25-year-old died of medical complications after a collapsed lung in 2015.

His family say it was caused by an assault.

Clint Bambrick has told Auckland District Court? Evans had no injuries when
he was moved to another cell block in Mt Eden prison - on April 1.

That night, his cellmate says Evans told him he'd been in a scuffle, and that
he felt overwhelmed, anxious and in some pain.

He says he was winded and his right rib cage area hurt.

Bambrick says this does sound like an assault, but staff and medical reports
    don't indicate any injuries.

The inquest, which is set down for two days, continues.
