It's expected to take weeks until the Hastings district is back to normal following a massive downpour

Slips and flooding has affected about 50 rural roads.
Coastal areas have seen about a hundred millimetres of rainfall over the past 60 hours, while parts of northern Hawkes Bay received upwards of 300 millimetres.
Council incident manager Alison Banks says contractors are working around the clock to clear the mess
She says there's more than a hundred slips to work on before repairs can begin.
